Pacha Ibiza
Pacha is
Ibiza’s most glamorous club, a playground for the rich and famous. The Ibiza
Town club is known throughout the world for its glitzy champagne swilling
clientele. However there is much to Pacha than this, the club puts on top
quality parties every night during the summer, and is the only big club on the
island to be open all year round.

History
Pacha first opened in Ibiza over 30
years ago in 1973. It is often wrongly reported that the Ibizan version was the
first Pacha, though that honour goes to the one in Sitges, North Spain. The club
was built in the typical Mediterranean style of characteristic simplicity and
whiteness. When it first opened, the club only consisted of two dance floors, a
restaurant, terrace and garden.
The club grew more and more popular
in 70’s and 80’s, along with Ibiza’s reputation as a party island, and then
fully embraced dance music culture, and the DJ, in the 90’s. Since then Pacha
has remained at the forefront of the Ibiza dance scene, with many of the world’s
top DJs playing regularly. The Pacha brand has also grown, and there are now
approximately 30 Pacha clubs worldwide.
Very near to the club now stands El
Hotel, which Pacha made their own in 2003.

Music
Policy
House music is still the main order of the day though recently the club has
branched out into hip hop and r'n'b.
The main room really gets going fairly late, around 5am. This is when the big
names will be on and sometimes a few surprise guests as well.
There are
other rooms away from the main room playing there own style of music throughout
the club. There's the Funky Room you will find more soulful funky tunes and for
a bit of Spanish pop head to Pachacha (on the left after you enter through the
front door).
The residents include Australian born Sarah Main, Barcelona-born Angel Linde,
and hip houser Andy B.
Inside
Pacha
There are many different areas of
the club, each with their own unique vibe. It’s a large place with a capacity
for over 3000 but still retains an intimate feel unlike some of the other large
clubs on the island. Its easy to get lost on your first visit to the club and
it will take a few visits before you have managed to find all the different bars
and rooms. There are 4 rooms of music at Pacha, about 15 bars, a terrace and a
restaurant – good luck finding them all!
No matter what night you go to Pacha
in the summer, you can near enough guarantee the place will be busy. Every night
they put on a top quality event with big name DJs appearing and you will
probably have to queue to get in.
Prices
The
club is one of the island’s most expensive and will set you back about €60 (£40)
for most nights. Drinks are on a par with most of Ibiza’s clubs so expect to pay
about €10 (£7) for a beer, €12 (£8.40) for a spirit + mixer, and €8 (£5.50) for
water. You need to buy a drink (and an expensive one at that) to be allowed to
sit down in most seating areas at the club.
Pacha is not to everyone’s taste; it
can be a bit too glitzy and not have the hedonistic vibe of some of Ibiza’s
other clubs. Nevertheless, Pacha is a true clubbing experience; the club is
spectacular, the nights always top notch and the music always of high quality.
